Corporate Strategy: New-Indy finishes Catawba buy, mill to stay in coated paper until conversion

OAKLAND, CA, Jan. 11, 2019 (PPI Pulp & Paper Week) -New-Indy Containerboard completed the purchase of Resolute Forest Products' Catawba, SC, pulp and paper mill for $360 million, the companies said on Dec. 31.

With the purchase, contacts believe New-Indy will continue to produce coated printing and writing paper for possibly as long as two years before converting a lightweight coated (LWC) papermaking machine to kraft linerboard production, most likely in 2021, according to contacts.
