International trade in tissue parent rolls and converted products has grown rapidly, clearly more than tissue consumption. The long-term (25-year) growth rate in foreign trade (imports and exports) in tissue shows an average growth rate of more than 6% per year, while the growth trend in tissue consumption is 3.7% (1993-2018). In the 1990s, tissue business was more local and intercontinental trade flows were much less important than today.
