In Indonesia, APP and APRIL both seeking FSC re-certification
SINGAPORE, April 8, 2016 (PPI Asia) -The top two Indonesian pulp producers, Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) and Asia Pacific Resources International (APRIL), are seeking to re-associate with the Germany-based non-profit certification organization Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
FSC disassociated itself with APP in December 2007, while APRIL lost its FSC certification in 2010.
Meanwhile, downstream customers, especially international companies, procure forest products certified by an internationally recognized system as a matter of policy.
The most sought certifications are from the FSC or from the Geneva-based Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
