In Indonesia, APP converting 850,000 tonnes/yr of fine paper capacity to packaging
SINGAPORE, March 27, 2019 (RISI) -Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) is rebuilding three paper machines with a combined capacity of 850,000 tonnes/yr at its Indonesian mills, aiming to switch their production from fine paper to packaging grades.
The conversion of the 150,000 tonne/yr PM 14 at the Karawang No 3 mill in West Java, operated by APP’s subsidiary Pindo Deli, was completed in January, said an APP contact.
The 6 m-wide unit, which had a maximum speed of 1,000 m/min before its conversion, has been modified to manufacture packaging paper.
