Italian P&B production rises in 2018; graphic paper down 2.8%

BRUSSELS, Dec. 6, 2018 (PPI Europe) -The Italian paper and board (P&B) industry’s performance was positive although it decelerated slightly during the first nine months of the year, with foreign demand decreasing and revenues on the rise as paper mills struggled to offset increasing pulp and energy costs. According to the Italian association of pulp, paper and board producers Assocarta, Italian P&B demand rose by 4.5% year on year during the first eight months of 2018, with with that for packaging paper rising by 6.0%, graphic paper increasing by 3.5% and tissue paper improving by 1.7%.
