Kraft paper: WestRock testing envelopes, may do pouches; saw low 2Q bag, extensible demand

OAKLAND, CA, Aug. 9, 2019 (PPI Pulp & Paper Week) -WestRock is testing kraft paper for new uses, including envelopes and pouches, its packaging executive Jeff Chalovich told analysts on Aug. 1.

Chalovich mentioned smaller corrugated boxes in some cases being replaced by other substrates, including polyethylene bags for consumer products. Also, Sofidel, an Italian tissue company that has expanded operations in the USA with a new complex in Circleville, OH, told recently of wanting to switch out of plastic for covering its tissue products such as bathroom tissue and towels to potentially kraft paper.
