Landor Cartons fined £200,000 over contractor’s death in UK

BRUSSELS, March 14, 2019 (PPI Europe) -UK-based cartonboard producer Landor Cartons has been fined £200,000 ($263,000) and ordered to pay costs of some £12,600 by the Birmingham Magistrates’ Court over the death of a contractor working at the firm’s site in Birmingham in October 2017.

The contractor fell six meters through a broken skylight in the roof to the factory floor below and suffered severe head injuries, the country’s national agency for workplace health and safety, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), said in a statement.
