Prices fall by another $10/ton on domestic market from soft export conditions

OAKLAND, CA, Aug. 23, 2019 (PPI Pulp & Paper Week) -Unbleached kraft paper prices declined for a fourth time this year on the US market, falling by $10/ton across the grades surveyed byPPI Pulp & Paper Week.

Contacts pointed to weak export pricing that caused additional supply and the lower pricing on the domestic market for extensible, multi-wall sack, and grocery bag kraft paper.

Also, swing linerboard machines, some of which are taking extensive downtime, were said to be in some cases running kraft paper.

"Linerboard guys are coming to us to sell kraft paper," said one contact this week.
