RANDOM LENGTHS INTERNATIONAL: Exports to Mexico run counter to trends in overseas markets

EUGENE, OR, July 16, 2019 (Random Lengths International) -U.S. softwood lumber exports to Mexico have fallen at a more moderate rate compared to the steep declines in shipments to other traditional markets worldwide in 2019. The trend is consistent with Mexico’s historical pattern as a contrarian market compared to offshore destinations. Exports to Mexico through May slipped 10%, to 96 million board feet. Meanwhile, U.S. shipments offshore plunged 34%, exports to Canada fell 20%, and total deliveries to all markets declined 27%.
