Recovered paper: US exports down 8.1% in 1Q, OCC demand up; Waste Management to acquire ADS

OAKLAND, CA, May 17, 2019 (PPI Pulp & Paper Week) -With the exception of China, every major export market for US recovered fiber has considerably upped its buying in the last two years, yet China's nearly 464,000 tonne-decline in US fiber imports played a major role in driving down total US recovered fiber exports by 8.1% in first-quarter 2019 from the same quarter two years prior in 2017, according to US trade data. The Chinese buying two years was at its peak.

At 4.307 million tonnes in first quarter, US recovered fiber exports declined from 4.687 million tonnes in first-quarter 2017. ...
