Recycled board prices fall in South China amid intensifying US-China trade hostilities

BEIJING, May 24, 2019 (PPI Asia) -Prices for major recycled containerboard grades have dropped in South China following the escalation of trade tensions with the USA.

Board producers in Guangdong and Fujian provinces marked down kraft-top liner and testliner by around RMB 50-200/tonne ($7-29/tonne) and corrugating medium by RMB 50-150/tonne last week, in a bid to boost sales.

In late April, Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings)’s Dongguan mill announced an RMB 50/tonne hike for its high-strength corrugating medium, testliner and low-end kraft-top liner products, effective May 6.
