Recycled board prices slip in China amid sluggish demand, RCP cost uncertainties

BEIJING, March 15, 2019 (PPI Asia) -Prices for major recycled containerboard grades in China have dropped this week.

Led by Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings), the country’s largest recycled containerboard producer, most mills started markdowns from Tuesday.

By yesterday, testliner, kraft-top liner and corrugating medium had dropped RMB 100-150/tonne ($15-22/tonne).

The dip came after a mild rebound over the past three months.

As buyers stepped up purchases to meet demand for the Lunar New Year (LNY), board producers started to mark prices up in the beginning of December.
