RISI VIEWPOINT: Global tissue demand strong, but capacity expansions continue to exceed volume growth

Global tissue consumption has enjoyed stable and encouraging growth in recent years. Based on our current information (some minor revisions may still emerge), global tissue consumption increased by 3.9% in 2016, while 2015 recorded an even slightly stronger growth rate of 4.1%. These growth rates are the strongest since the 2009 Great Recession, and also above the average long-term growth trend (3.7% per year over the past 20 years).
