SCG builds waste-fuelled power plant in Thailand

SINGAPORE, Oct. 27, 2017 (PPI Asia) -SCG Packaging has signed up Marubeni as the turnkey contractor for a waste-to-energy power plant at its Banpong mill in Ratchaburi, Thailand.

The Thai manufacturer operates four machines at the plant producing 620,000 tonnes/yr of recycled containerboard and 100,000 tonnes/yr of recycled board.

Marubeni has placed an order with Andritz to supply a fluidized bed boiler with a flue gas cleaning system for the renewable energy plant.

It will generate electricity by processing residue from recovered paper-based production.

Startup is scheduled for Q3 next year.
