Trade: Suzano UFS exports rise 30% in 2Q driven by exchange rate

OAKLAND, CA, Aug. 16, 2019 (PPI Pulp & Paper Week) -Brazilian producer Suzano exported 97,110 metric tonnes (107,044 tons) of uncoated freesheet (UFS) in April-June, or 30% higher than a year ago. In Brazil, Suzano sold 133,459 tonnes, 7% lower year-over-year, due to weak demand.

Suzano said the export increase was thanks to its strategy of allocating higher volumes to international markets.

The company added that the average net price for its paper exports in the second quarter was $29/ton (3%) lower than the first quarter and $23/ton (2%) lower than a year ago – in Brazilian currency, export prices increased 1% ...
