Uncoated freesheet: Pricing rolls back to pre-March levels due to unbalanced supply, demand
TORONTO, ON, Aug. 23, 2019 (Fastmarkets RISI) -Uncoated freesheet (UFS) paper prices are now mostly back to pre-March increase levels, market contacts toldPPI Pulp & Paper Weekthis month. In spite of all efforts major suppliers made, demand did not support the $60/ton increase announced earlier this year and prices mostly rolled back, contacts explained.
August prices for benchmark grade 20-lb copy paper 92 bright are now at $1,090-1,120/ton, 4.7% higher than a year ago, according to theP&PWsurvey. Prices for 50-lb offset rolls 92 bright are back to $990-1,010/ton, 6.4% higher than a year ago.
