UPM to expand label paper capacity in China

BEIJING, June 15, 2018 (PPI Asia) -UPM recently announced that it will expand its release liner base paper capacity by installing a new supercalender unit on PM 3 at its Changshu mill in Jiangsu province, China.

The supercalender, whose start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2020, will be able to produce more than 40,000 tonnes/yr of glassine paper.

The Helsinki-based company estimated the investment will cost Euro 33 million ($38.2 million).

The Changshu mill currently runs one supercalender which produces around 120,000 tonnes/yr of glassine paper.
