China’s Pulp and Paper Industry Explored by New Reference Guide
Boston, MA (October 18, 2017) – China’s pulp and paper sector plays a vital role in global markets, but many important facts about the industry are unfamiliar to those outside China. To help fill this knowledge gap, a new China Pulp and Paper Factbook has been published by RISI, the leading source of market intelligence for the global forest products industry.
“We developed the China Pulp and Paper Factbook to look beyond the headlines, at Chinese trends and market conditions that are not well understood by the rest of the world,” said Levi Li, RISI Managing Director for China.
These trends and drivers include government import and environmental policies; shifts in demand from industry and consumers; a decline in China’s use of pulp made from non-wood fibers, such as straw and reed; and constraints on other fiber sources, such as domestic recovered paper and imported pulp. The Factbook presents year-over-year data and trend lines for these and other key indicators. It also profiles the 30 largest Chinese producers of paper and board, with details on revenues, profits, capacities, capital investments, and more.
Originally developed for Chinese-language customers by RISI and its China-based UM Paper division, the English-language China Pulp and Paper Factbook offers unprecedented detail about China’s pulp and paper companies:
- Detailed monthly regional price data
- Output, demand, import/export, investment, and industry financial performance
- Profiles and details on the Top 30 Chinese producers of paper and board
- Review of government policies and developments in key markets for fiber, pulp, and finished products
- Cost structure comparison between China and the rest of world for all major grades
