RISI Appoints 12-Year Forest Products Economist to VP of Fiber
Boston, November 16, 2017 (Press Release) – RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, today announced they have appointed David Fortin to Vice President of Fiber effective January 1, 2018. In this role, Mr. Fortin will be responsible for RISI’s global pulp and recovered paper forecasting practice. Pulp and fiber forecasting is a critical component of the broader forest products industry as a driver of the underlying economics for grades like graphic paper, paper packaging, and tissue products.
“Dave’s ability to analyze markets, apply the insights to industry issues, and translate these findings to our customers’ needs will help RISI successfully grow the fiber practice,” said Senior VP of RISI Analytics, Jon Rager. “His extensive experience across the breadth of forest products makes him an ideal leader for the fiber group and this crucial role within RISI.”
Over the last 12 years, Mr. Fortin has held roles on both the Global Fiber and Wood and Timber Analytics teams as a Fiber Economist, Senior Economist in Wood Products and most recently the Director of Wood Products Economic Analysis. During this time, he contributed to numerous analytics studies and forecast publications including the World Pulp Monthly, World Pulp and Recovered Paper Forecast, the Global Fluff Pulp Study as well as the Lumber and Structural Panel Commentaries, and mid and long-term North American Lumber Forecasts.
“I am excited for the opportunity to dive back into the global fiber market and lead our team,” said Fortin. “RISI’s fiber and pulp coverage has earned a prestigious position in the industry as the highest caliber insight and analysis available. I look forward to continuing and further improving the service so our clients are armed with most reliable and objective information.”
