Japan hit by massive earthquake, tsunami; extent of damage to P&P industry unclear



BRUSSELS , March 11, 2011 (RISI) - Japan was struck in succession by a major earthquake and tsunami on Friday, wreaking havoc on the country's northern coast. The extent of damage to Japan's pulp and paper industry is unclear, but Sendai, near the epicenter of the 8.9-magnitude quake, lies in the Miyagi prefecture, where a number of pulp and paper operations are located.
