Pierre G. Côté was appointed senior vice president, U.S. and B.C. operations, and executive vice president of Donohue Industries Inc.

 

GEORGIA-PACIFIC

Georgia-Pacific, Port Edwards, Wisc., named Craig Gildenzopf to technical assistant in the Nekoosa paper machines department and Richard Rowe paper machines maintenance planner for Nekoosa maintenance department.

 

WEYERHAEUSER

Weyerhaeuser Fine Paper, Valley Forge, Pa., promoted Warren Siedler to the position of Midwest zone manager;

Randall Evans was promoted to the position technical service manager.

 

CHAMPION INTERNATIONAL

Clayton D. Hammes assumed the responsibilities of associate safety engineer at Champion International Corp.’s, Cantonment, Fla., mill; Jason Simmons, James R. Wade, and Benjamin M. Roeder have been appointed assistant process engineers at the Pensacola, Fla., mill;

 

REPUBLIC GROUP INC.

Republic Paperboard Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Republic Group Inc., announced that Gary Parnigoni has rejoined the Republic Paperboard Team as sales representative for Western Territory.

 

INTERNATIONAL PAPERS

The Fine Papers division of International Paper has appointed John Walsh to the position of account manager for Hammermill Papers. He will be based in Atlanta and serve Atlanta and its surrounding areas; LaTascha Willie Foster was appointed account manager for Hammermill Papers. She will be based in New York City and her territory will include the New York metro area; Marguerite (Peggy) Harris was appointed account manager for Hammermill Papers. She will be based in Chicago and her territory will include Chicago, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis; Janet Lynch was appointed account manager for Hammermill Papers. She will be based in the Baltimore/Washington D.C, area and her territory will include the Mid-Atlantic market; Joanne Hwa was appointed named manager for Hammermill Papers. She will be based in San Francisco and her territory will include the S.F. Bay Area as well as Salt Lake City; Richard Hartman was named manager of manufacturing for the Fine Papers Division.

 

LAMINATIONS

Laminations, part of Great Northern Corp.’s Specialty Group, has hired Cheryl Diamanti as an inside sales partner in its West office in Ontario, Calif; and Colleen Yezik as an inside sales partner at its East office in Allentown, Pa.

 

MEAD

Mead’s Maine operations announced the appointment of Randall R. Chicoine to the position of general superintendent No. 15 paper machine.

 

SAPPI

Jennifer L. Miller was promoted to the new position of executive v.p., Administration.

 

PLAINWELL

Jeffrey A. Arnesen has been promoted to senior v.p., CFO. Bryan T. Griffin has been named corporate controller.

Olivia Bursey has been promoted to the position of quality systems manager and

Andrew J. Mohler has been promoted to director of process innovation at the worldwide headquarters in Memphis, Tenn.

 

GARDNER SYSTEMS

Robert Elliot has been hired as a project manager, Dryer Drainage Systems. He will design, produce, and supervise Blow-Thru control steam system installations.

 

WEBEX

James Berceau has been named technical director. In this new position, Berceau will direct and supervise roll engineering and provide technical support. Jess Keller has been appointed as the new operations manager.

 

RHEOX

Ian D. Christopher has been appointed to the position of technical service representative. Christopher will be responsible for technical customer service. Henry Zalewski has been appointed to the position of senior technical service representative.

 

KROFTA

Kevin Marsh has been appointed sales development manager.

 

HARRIS

Harris Waste Management Group Inc. has appointed Helmut Koehler as the lead engineer for the new Harris Shredder Division. As the project manager for this division, Helmut will work out of Harris’ Cordele manufacturing facility in Cordele, Ga. Randy Gibson has been named the new technical sales assistant for Harris/Selco products. Gibson will work at Harris’ manufacturing facility in Baxley, Ga.

 

BALLYMORE

Gerald Kuehl has been appointed v.p. of manufacturing at Ballymore Co. Inc. in West Chester, Pa.

 

ALFA LAVAL

Mitch Matthews has accepted a position with Alfa Laval Flow Inc. as Southeastern regional sales manager for their Industrial Pump Division. John Lund has been promoted to accounting manager.

 

THOMPSON ANALYTIC

Karl M. Kirsch has joined the staff of Thompson Analytic International Inc. as manager of research. Kirsch was formerly technical operations manager of TAPPI.

 

 

NATIONAL STARCH & CHEMICAL

Terrence Thomas has been appointed to the position of director of corporate accounts. John D. Cate has recently been appointed the position of national sales manager, overseeing North American sales effort for Alco Chemical, based in Chattanooga, Tenn. Peter Salis has been appointed to the position of group v.p., Food and Industrial Starch Division.

 

GENERAL MAGNAPLATE

Richard L. Macary has been named general manager of General Magnaplate Wisconsin in Racine. Macary will be responsible for managing the Wisconsin division’s activities, including meeting company growth objectives and servicing clients throughout the upper Midwest.

 

BABCOCK & WILCOX

Dr. Robert H. Cardell has been appointed general manager of the Babcock & Wilcox Environmental Division. The Babcock and Wilcox Co. is an operating unit of McDermott International Inc.

 

VIVENDI WATER

Dick Heckmann has been appointed chairman of Vivendi Water, a new company consisting of all of Vivendi’s water businesses, including US Filter and Generale des Eaux. Henry Proglio will be the new company’s CEO.

 

WALL COLMONOY CORP.

Tanya Jordan has been hired as marketing coordinator in the Corporate Marketing Department. She will manage all public relations, advertising, and corporate communications. Albert W. Breer has rejoined the company after a ten-year hiatus. Breer will be working as Northeast sales manager.

 

VIBRA-METRICS

Gregory Newman has been appointed to the position of manufacturing manager.

 

SARTOMER

Al Tuccio has been promoted to director of sales from his current position as national sales manager. Paul Elias has been promoted to business director, specialty products.

Stig Ammentorp, P.E., has joined the staff as senior project engineer; Andrew White has joined the staff as structural engineer level 1; and Steve Patry, P.E. has been promoted to principal structural engineer.

 

ADVANCED VISION TECHNOLOGY

Terry Millington has joined the company and has been assigned responsibility for marketing and sales for the company’s central region.

Robert H. Doggett has assumed the position of product manager for the Instrumentation Department. Jill A. Ellerbrock has been promoted to the new position of sales coordinator.

 

DUBOIS CHEMICALS

Mike Barras has been promoted to v.p. Corporate Programs. Barras will manage the strategic account programs for DuBois’ Paper and Industrial Divisions.

 

STERLING COATINGS

Cincinnati-based offline paper coater, Sterling Coatings, recently named Terry Benson their new general manager. Benson was most recently plant manager of Georgia-Pacific’s Mount Wolf, Penn. corrugated plant.

 

INPRO/SEAL

Tom Coe has been appointed sales manager. Coe has been with INPRO/SEAL Co. since 1983 and has held a number of positions, most recently as a Midwest regional manager.

 

OSMONICS

Mike Fabich will join the company as general manager of the Household Water Treatment Global Marketing Unit. Also, Keith B. Robinson will join the company as senior v.p. Finance and Administration.

 

BENDER MACHINE

Mike Roberts has been promoted to plant manager.

 

CYTEC INDUSTRIES

Peter J. Deutch has been appointed general manager of the company’s global Paper Chemicals business.

 

CLARK

Barry S. Langridge has been named president and managing director of CLARK North America. In this newly created position, Langridge will oversee the company’s operations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

 

OBITUARIES

GOLD RIVER

Ian R. Smith recently passed away Sept. 14, 1999. He was the steam & recovery superintendent of Gold River B.C. Pulp Mill from 1965 to 1989. He contributed numerous articles to Pulp & Paper magazine.
