Dan Perkins has been name CFO and sr. v.p. of the company that will be formed from the pending merger. Several other appointments will take place at the completion of the merger: Louis-Marie Bouchard, sr. v.p., solid wood and woodland operations; Gaston Bouffard, sr. v.p., newsprint sales; Pierre G. Cote, sr. v.p., international newsprint operations; Alain Grandmont, sr. v.p., value-added paper; Denis Jean, sr. v.p. northern newsprint operations; Mike Medline, sr. v.p., strategy and corporate development; Dave Schirmer, sr. v.p., value-added paper sales; Thor Thorsteinson, sr. v.p., southern newsprint operations; Bruno Tremblay, sr. v.p., technology services; and Jacques Vachon, sr. v.p., corporate affairs and secretary.

BOISE CASCADE
Stanley R. Bell, v.p. and gen. mgr. of the building materials distribution division since 1990, has been elected a sr. v.p. Kenneth W. Cupp, David A. Goudge, Miles A. Hewitt, and Thomas A. Lovlien have all been elected vice presidents of the company.

SMURFIT-STONE CONTAINER CORP.
It was recently announced that Jay J. Gurandiano, pres. and CEO of St. Laurent Paperboard Inc., will join the company as COO following Smurfit-Stone’s acquisition of St. Laurent Paperboard.

INTERNATIONAL PAPER
Strathmore Papers, part of the Fine Papers division of International Paper, has announced the appointment of Jeneanne Bernard to the position of sr. account exec., and Chris Lambert to the position of district sales exec. Bernard will promote and sell Strathmore in the Upstate New York, Eastern Ohio, and Western Pennsylvania markets. Lambert will promote and sell Strathmore in the San Francisco Bay Area, covering Northern California, Northern Nevada, Colorado, and Utah.

PLAINWELL TISSUE
Bryan T. Griffin has been named v.p. and CFO. In this newly created position, Griffin will have full responsibility for the financial and accounting functions at all locations. Plainwell Tissue operates mills in Ransom, Penn.; Pittston, Penn.; and Eau Claire, Wis.

INSTITUTE OF SCRAP RECYCLING INDUSTRIES (ISRI)

Sam W. Hummelstein, pres. of Hummelstein Iron & Metal Inc., Jonesboro, Ark., was elected to a two–year term as national chairperson on March 16, 2000. Mr. Hummelstein had served as ISRI’s first v.p. since 1998. Other national officers elected to two–year terms were chairperson–elect, Charles Williams, Jr., pres., Charles Williams and Son Inc., Richmond, Va.; vice chairperson, Joel Denbo, chief manager–operations, Tennessee Valley Recycling, Decatur, Ala.; and secretary/treasurer, Frank J. Cozzi, pres., Cozzi Iron & Metal Inc., Chicago, Ill.

NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR AIR AND STREAM IMPROVEMENT (NCASI)
Steven R. Rogel, chairman, pres., and CEO of Weyerhaeuser Co., has been elected chairman of the Board of Governors. Rogel succeeds John Dillon, chairman and CEO of International Paper, who had completed three years of service as chairman.

Doug Erickson has been named v.p., supply chain software sales. Erickson will direct the company’s sales and marketing efforts of HK’s supply chain software product suite, SCM/Enterprise. Jim Stollberg has been appointed v.p., third party logistics and Internet fulfillment center of excellence. He will be responsible for delivering solution components that address the needs of third party logistics.

VOITH SULZER
David Babey has been named manager of the Northeastern region. J.T. Fisher has been named applications specialist for the Northeastern region.

PAPEREXCHANGE.COM
Jonathan O. Bloom has joined the company as v.p., corporate development. Michael Foster has been appointed gen. mgr. of pulp, and John Plouffe has been appointed gen. mgr. of newsprint.

CHEMICALDESK CORP.
Ronald A. Kutsche and William Scott have been appointed to the advisory board. Kutsche is currently a consultant for the Eka Paper Chemicals division of Akzo Nobel. Scott is a professor of paper science and engineering at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Michael P. Mellen has been named market maker, water treatment chemicals. Mellen will be responsible for managing content and bringing customers and suppliers to the water treatment site.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS CORP.
John L. Sams has been appointed pres., and Samuel T. Woodside has been appointed chairman of the board.

VOITH SULZER AUTOMATION
It has been announced that Peter Carino has rejoined the company as regional sales mgr. for the Midwestern and Mid-Atlantic U.S.


NALCO CHEMICAL CO.
Christian Maurin has been elected chairman and CEO. Steve Newlin, pres., has been named to the additional positions of vice chairman and COO. Gérard Lamarche has been appointed exec. v.p. and CFO, effective July 1, 2000.

HARRIS WASTE MANAGEMENT GROUP INC.
James Stepanek has been hired as the shredder mgr. Alvaro Medeiros has been hired as the sales mgr. for the Latin American market.

LINTERN CORP.
Mike Considder has been promoted to sales mgr. In his new position, Considder will oversee all sales territories worldwide.

OMNOVA SOLUTIONS
Sandra L. Klaasse has been promoted to the position of v.p. of the paper business unit, replacing James J. Hohman, who has been appointed v.p., specialty business unit.

MAXCESS INTERNATIONAL

Bruce E. Ryan has been named CEO. Ryan replaces J. Richard Webb, who resigned after serving as the company’s chairman and CEO since 1992.

ENGELHARD CORP.
Tom Boerner has joined the company as a sales representative for performance additives and specialty minerals in the Midwest markets.

GLENRO INC.
Richard Hoffmann has been promoted to regional sales mgr. for the Southeast and Southcentral office. He will also handle sales engineering for western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Alan Fletcher has joined the sales team and will have sales responsibility for Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

Michael R. Bonsignore, CEO, has assumed the additional title of chairman of the board.

EARTHKOTER INTERNATIONAL INC.

Bob Smith has joined the company as business developer. Smith will provide sales and marketing services to customers in the Midwest as well as nationally.

HUNTSMAN TIOXIDE
The following appointments have been announced: Doug Kraushaar, currently director of sales, North America Central/West, will become responsible for the East region of North America; Rob McComb has been appointed director of sales, Central/West; Miguel Bravo has been appointed marketing and technical service mgr.; George Murphy has been appointed supply chain mgr., NAFTA; and Louise Jachim has been appointed exec. assistant and office mgr.

Connie Abramowski, based in Wisconsin, has joined the company, a paper recycling consulting firm based in Atlanta.

ACTION INSTRUMENTS
Fred Noble has been promoted to v.p. of marketing. Noble will be responsible for all marketing tasks in the company, including Action Instruments’ products and Eurotherm Chessell Recorders USA.

Don Stitsinger has been promoted to sr. key account mgr. Jack Zhelesik has been promoted to sr. sales engineer.

OCI CHEMICAL CORP.

Christopher Fraser has been appointed CEO and pres. of the company, a producer of soda ash that is headquartered in Shelton, Conn.

DATACOLOR INTERNATIONAL

Ed Shaffer has assumed the position of representative, covering the Pacific West Coast.

DOVER FLEXO ELECTRONICS (DFE)
Larry Sportello has been appointed as sales mgr. As of April 3, 2000, Sportello has taken full responsibility for worldwide sales of all DFE products and systems.

FIBERMARK
Pem Hutchinson has been appointed v.p., sales and marketing for the Filter Media North America unit. He will be based in the Richmond, Va., office.

PATHFINDER LLC
Mario J. DiMeglio has been appointed v.p. of the project management consulting and training organization.

COLOR COMMUNICATIONS INC.
Kenneth X. Charbonneau has been appointed exec. dir. of the Institute for Color Research division of the company.

 

RETIREMENTS
RELIABLE PLATING WORKS
After 47 years with the company, John J. Maliszewski has retired from his position as CEO. Maliszewski will continue as chairman of the board.

HONEYWELL
Lawrence A. Bossidy has retired from his position of chairman of the board.

IDEX CORP.
Donald N. Boyce, retired from his position as chairman on March 31, 2000. Boyce retired from his position as CEO on March 31, 1999. Dennis K. Williams will replace him as Chairman of the Board, pres., and CEO.
