In the Stevens Point Div., Larry Reeve has been promoted to sr. account mgr., flexible packaging paper. Luis Martinez has been appointed pres. and CEO for the Mississauga, Ont.-based company.

POTLATCH CORP.

Gerald L. Zuehlke has been appointed v.p., finance and CFO. Zuehlke has been the company’s treasurer since 1994.

PORT TOWNSEND PAPER

Joel Hodgson has been named market development mgr. Hodgson’s responsibilities include implementing marketing plans for the Pulp, Paper, and Converted Products divs. of the company.

THE NEWARK GROUP

Dick de Haas has been named v.p. of Graphic Board Operations. De Haas will be the Fitchburg project mgr. Dana Pelletier will be the mill’s GM.

P.H. GLATFELTER CO.

The company has announced organizational changes in its sr. management structure. Robert P. Newcomer, currently exec. v.p. and CFO, will relinquish his role as CFO in order to assume principle leadership of the company’s strategic initiatives. Other key organizational changes announced include: Larry W. Nelson, from asst. GM, Ecusta Div., to COO; C. Matthew Smith, from v.p., finance, to CFO; and Robert S. Wood, from v.p., administration, to chief strategy officer.

STORA ENSO

Kai Korhonen will become responsible for the company’s North American operations. The position will become effective as soon as the acquisition of Consolidated Papers is realized.

 

PLAINWELL TISSUE

Morris Paine has been promoted to sales mgr. for the Commercial and Industrial Business Unit.

Alain Roose has been appointed mgr. of European logistics and customer service. Roose will be responsible for the management and coordination of all aspects of customer service, distribution, and logistics for European operations. Roose will be based in the Ghent, Belgium, office.

J. Richard Mitchell has been hired as reg. sales mgr. for the company’s non-ferrous div.

Albert Moore is the 1999 winner of the Thomas J. Sheerin Jr. Award, a PIMA award that is given to an affiliate member of PIMA who has performed outstanding service to the community and/or the industry. Robert Roup has been promoted to dir. of marketing. Robert Turnbull has been appointed product mgr., Papermaking Technologies. Janice B. Butler has accepted the position of mgr. of business operations of the company’s Bulab Learning Center. Gregg R. Levitt has been promoted to corporate accounts mgr. Miguel A. Massey has been promoted to international business dir., Southern Cone, the area that includes: Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Paraguay. Horacio M. Gonzales has been appointed to business mgr., Argentina and Leather sales in Uruguay. Mario Montano has been promoted to business mgr., Argentina. Paulo S. Beltrao has been appointed business coordinator for Bolivia and Paraguay. Carlos Krenz has been named area mgr. for areas of Argentina.

Preston M. Henderson has been appointed sAles mgr. for the North American office of the manufacturer of drying and auxiliary equipment.

Wendy Johnson has been named dir. of manufacturing accountS and reporting. In this new position, Johnson will be responsible for improving cost control worldwide for the company, as well as for the global standarization of manufacturing accounting.

Gerald R. Eddens, pres. since 1981, has announced his retirement. Eddens joined the company in 1970 as a partner and project engineer and served as chief engineer before assuming the position of pres.

Thomas J. Kuber has stepped down as chairman. John Peterson has resigned as a director.
